Architectural Program

Team John Is Cool, Team JIC for short was retained to propose a commercial development for a site at 1254 E US 224. We wanted to design a place where people could go and have fun. We considered many ideas and we have narrowed it down to a Laser Tag Arena. We made this choice because it is safe and we believe that the location, being so close to a school, will bring in steady business. There will also be an arcade and a food stand along with the arena. This site couldnt be more than 15,000 square feet.

the mobile cabin, it apeald to me in that i would like trying to live there

All trash receptacles shall be completely screened by a wall on three sides matching the materials,colors, and architecture of the primary structure located on the parcel. The fourth side shall consist of a metal gate or other similar materials completely hiding the trash receptacle

m.   What is the requirement for street trees? Although Highway 37 is a state road, for the purposes of this activity, assume that both adjacent streets are city streets.
The spacing of the street trees shall be every 40 to 60 feet.

1. How do weight and applications of loads affect the design of a structure?

if the weight is to much the soil cant hold the structure and need a better foundation

the soil type the soil drainage and flood zones

frezzing lines and strength of the soil to secure building from sinking and or falling over

1. How do Land Use and Development regulations help or hinder development in a community?
Could help by not allowing any building were toxic matterial has been dumped or hinder because u have to rezone the land for something else inorder to build on.

2. Why are building codes important in the construction of buildings?
To apply safety for the workers and customers

3. How does commercial building design and construction differ from residential building design and construction?

There are alot more codes to follow with commercial then residential

4. What factors influence the choice of commercial construction materials?
Cost, efficency, and time spent installing

5. How do sustainable design alternatives, such as a green roof, impact the environment and quality of life?

it helps clean the air and gives is a better look to the building 

Playing Card Efficiency

We were handed 14 cards to make an eight inch structure with a four inch base out of playing cards. Our goal was to have the most efficent structure of the three groups. My groups structure did not withstand any weight while testing, due to lack of balance. I believe that if we would have designed our base wider then it would not have been so weak and strengthend  the balance. While we were revising we realized the balance would become a problem, so me and John put cards in between the layers to help keep it from leaning even more. The revision did not help strengthen the balance enough to support the five pounds applied. Joel and Wade's design had a maximum design load of 10 pounds as did Mishia and Will's design.
